A Natural High:
the altitude makes the difference
- At 3,000 m above sea level, 80 % of all precipitation falls as snow (compared with just 10 % in Innsbruck). As a result, Tirol’s glacier ski resorts have average snow depths of up to 6 metres.
- Thanks to „inversion“, a meteorological phenomenon observed in autumn and winter, it is often sunny and clear up on the glaciers at 3,000 m while further down in the valley it remains foggy and misty. Therefore, glacier skiing generally provides sunny conditions and excellent visibility.
- At over 3,000 m altitude the views get more spectacular with every vertical metre you ascend. Visitors to the viewing platforms and vantage points in the glacier ski resorts can marvel at up to 50 mountain peaks over 3,000 m in altitude.
